What are key literacies and practices for cultural organizations in the changing landscape (a world where demographic shifts and rapidly evolving definitions of identity are unprecedented)? How might the unique positions of art and history practitioners be used as points of leverage for social change, in artistic collaborations, cultural institutions, and in communities large and small?
This session comes at a time when museums and art communities are exploring their relevance and relationships to the communities they serve. This highly interactive session will provide participants with a framework to examine ideologies of difference; explore personal identity and social location; and develop next steps to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Texas arts and culture community.
This workshop is presented by the Texas Historical Commission, the Houston Endowment, and the Texas Association of Museums.
