The Strange and Familiar

First Friday Artists reception at the Old Bakery and Emporium Art Gallery.

The Strange and Familiar Artists Reception, September 7th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., and the exhibit runs through October 3rd.

Four artist friends explore ‘The Strange and Familiar’. Their ultimate goal is to provide an artist’s prospective of the people, both strange and familiar, that surround us in our daily lives. They are Pat Molina, Jennifer Polnaszek, Beatrice Baldwin and Helen Faythe Green.

The proposal for our 2018 exhibit was a challenge to ourselves to present the human figure executed in a variety of settings and mediums. The ultimate goal is to provide an artist’s prospective of the people, both strange and familiar, that surround us in our daily lives.   We are four artists that maintain independent working studios but also find encouragement and support from each other in our creative endeavors.  Each of us work in watercolor, but will include other mediums such as oil, acrylic, drawing, printmaking and assemblage in an effort to draw the viewer into a more personal experience by using multiple artistic resources.

We will be participating in the Annual Austin Museum Day event, Sunday, September 23rd.
