Oakwood Cemetery Photo Documentation Project

Save Austin’s Cemeteries needs help photographing and thoroughly documenting each gravesite in detail at Oakwood Cemetery, a historic “outdoor museum” established in 1839, to have photo reference shots in case headstones are damaged. Please join us December 2nd (1pm-3pm) if you would like to help. We’ll work in teams of photographers and data recorders. Be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes (the terrain is uneven) and bring a digital camera if you have one.  The team will be working north of Oakwood’s Main Avenue, close to MLK Blvd, northeast of the Oakwood Chapel. Address:  1601 Navasota St, Austin, TX 78702.  Sessions are held the first Saturdays most of the months October-May, weather permitting.
