Oakwood Cemetery Photo Documentation Project

Save Austin’s Cemeteries needs help photographing and thoroughly documenting each gravesite in detail at Oakwood Cemetery, a historic “outdoor museum” established in 1839, to have photo reference shots in case headstones are damaged. We’ll work in teams of photographers and data recorders. Be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes (the terrain is uneven) and bring a digital camera if you have one.  The team will be working north of Oakwood’s Main Avenue, close to MLK Blvd, north of the Oakwood Chapel. Address:  1601 Navasota St, Austin, TX 78702.  Sessions are held the first Saturdays most of the months October-May, weather permitting.
