Midday Music at the Blanton
Instrumentalists join the UT Chamber Singers to perform the Bach Cantata, Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern (How beautifully shines the morning star), BWV I. The discussion will compare the techniques and effects of showcasing light in Bach’s work and a fifteenth-century panel painting of the Madonna and Child from the circle of Michelino de Besozzo.
This collaboration between the Butler School of Music and the Blanton Museum of Art explores connections between musical and artistic forms. Faculty and student musicians perform work from a specific period of music and discuss with museum experts the relationship between musical and visual style.
