Managing Your Personal Archive: Organize and Preserve Your Digital Footprint

Part of the Austin Public Library’s “Tech Connect” week of programming, “Managing Your Personal Archive” is a workshop hosted by the Austin History Center. Digital Archivist Nikki Koehlert and Records Analyst Jenna Cooper will give patrons the tools and resources to successfully download photos from their phone (and other personal devices) while learning about best practices for taking care of their digital files, such as organization and selection. “How-to” skills included in the workshop will be: general tips for organizing and naming digital/digitized photos, how to transfer files from different sources (e.g. photos created on phones, emailed photos, etc.) and how to preserve your digital memories. Using social media to store and curate digital media in addition to data control will be discussed.
