Exhibition State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda opens
Opening September 17, special exhibition State of Deceptionexplores Nazi propaganda and its impact abroad and at home, through rare artifacts from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, artifacts from Texas lenders, historic film footage, and first-person interviews. Discover propaganda’s impact and why it matters.
The Bullock Museum-curated accompanying exhibition, On the Texas Homefront, examines the significance of Nazi propaganda in Texas. Original artworks, government footage, and first-person oral histories of those imprisoned in Texas internment camps reveal what was happening here at home. Plus don’t miss The Butterfly Project, a large-scale art installation of butterflies suspended over the Museum’s Grand Lobby. Created by children from every corner of Texas who were inspired by the poem The Butterfly, written in 1942 by a young man imprisoned in Terezin, Germany, the butterflies represent endurance, change, hope, and life.
