Austin Museum Day at Oakwood Cemetery
Did you know that Austin’s first residents are buried right next to UT’s baseball stadium? Historic Oakwood Cemetery dates from 1839 and contains the graves of Austin’s founders, Texas heroes, and regular folks, many of whom have fascinating stories. Save Austin’s Cemeteries volunteers will be on hand at Oakwood to help locate the graves of notables and your Oakwood ancestors, point out beautiful monuments, or show you around the 1914 Gothic Revival limestone chapel designed by Charles H.
