Asian American Voices of Resistance Panel Discussion

The Austin History Center invites you to Taking it to the Streets: Asian American Voices of Resistance, a panel discussion and companion program to the photo exhibit Taking it to the Streets: A Visual History of Protest and Demonstration in Austin. The photo exhibit is currently on display at the Austin History Center in the David Earl Holt Gallery, where the panel discussion will take place on Saturday, October 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Due to commonly perpetuated “model minority” stereotypes, Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) activist movements and community members have been widely underrepresented across the country and in our archives. The event will bring together Austin AAPI community members who have been committed to creating transformational change within the city. Topics discussed will include aspects of their work, AAPI identity and activism, and how movements are documented. Attendees will gain insight into the panelists’ work and have the opportunity to engage in a moderated Q&A. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
