Landmarks Public Art Program

Landmarks Video presents Keith Sonnier’s “Animation I,” 1973. The work will be on public view daily December 1 to December 22 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the ART building atrium, located on the corner of East 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. Videos are accessible to all and free to view.

3rd Annual Museum Store Sunday

Be a Patron On Sunday, December 1, 2019, for the third consecutive year, more than 1,200 museum stores globally, including nine in Austin, will offer inspired shopping inside museums and cultural institutions during Museum Store Sunday. Shop local for quality gifts filled with inspiration and educational value and know that all purchases support an institution right here in Austin. Participants include Blanton Museum of Art, Bullock Texas State History Museum, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, LBJ Presidential Library, Mexic-Arte Museum, Texas Capitol Visitors Center and Capitol Extension, Texas Military Forces Museum, The Contemporary Austin Laguna Gloria & Jones Center, and Thinkery. Small Art by Austin

Presenting 50 plus local Austin artist with over 140 small works of art are on exhibit this month. We will cover our walls with art for you to choose from. Now is the time to start or extend your art collection. We have new comers to the Old Bakery and Emporium as well National known artists. Art trails are fun, but massive art exhibits in one gallery is even better. This is a ‘not to be missed’ event. The opening artists reception in Friday, December 6, 5-7:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through December 31, Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   Every type of art possible will be here; print making, photography, fused glass, pottery, art that is abstract to realism. Our 12 foot limestone gallery walls will be filled with art.

Celebrate the holidays 1800s style during Christmas on the Prairie at Pioneer Farms. Step into the past and experience the sights and sounds of holidays gone by. Our three historic homesteads and 1899 village will be decorated for the holidays and filled with Christmas spirit! Historical crafts, ornament making, treats, and music await visitors in our historic homesteads. A caroling hayride will take visitors from home to home. Great for all ages! For two Saturdays only-- December 7th & December 14th, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Austin Ghost Tours at Pioneer Farms

Ghosts, apparitions and things that go bump in the night will be the featured topic for exclusive nighttime ghost tours at Pioneer Farms. Join us for this Friday the 13th special tour. 

From our 1841 Tonkawa Encampment and 1866 German Emigrant Farm to our 1878 Texian Farm and 1886 Cotton Planter’s Farm, each location is filled with genuine artifacts and historical items that contribute to the lively spirit activity that has been documented on our grounds.

In each area you can step back in time and experience Texas history first-hand — and maybe even catch a glimpse of the people who have long since passed on, and yet somehow still remain.

These tours are in the dark and all about ghosts, hosted by Austin's one and only Austin Ghost Tours. Ghost sightings, unexplained events disembodied voices are all common occurrences at Pioneer Farms. Mark your calendars for this not-to-miss nighttime experience, in a place with a documented history of ghosts, apparitions and other unexplained sightings.
