Listen to a reading of The Family Book by Todd Parr and think about what makes your family special. Join us for a creative activity that will be fun for the whole family. TEXAS FOCUS: BOOK CLUB – CHAINSAWS, SLACKERS AND SPY KIDS

Join the Bullock Museum and author Alison Macor for a livestream discussion about her book, Chainsaws, Slackers, and Spy Kids - Thirty Years of Filmmaking in Austin, Texas.

This first edition of the Texas Focus Book Club will accent Alison Macor's book, Chainsaws, Slackers, and Spy Kids - Thirty Years of Filmmaking in Austin, Texas, which looks at the Austin film industry beginning with the 1970s horror classic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and concludes in the early 2000's with Spy Kids. A cinematic exploration of the Texas narrative, the Museum's Texas Focus Film Series highlights stories by, for, and about Texans. Purchase this book online through the Museum Store. All purchases support the Bullock Museum’s exhibitions and educational programs. The Bullock Museum is pleased to present the fifth annual Summer Family Film Series -- virtual edition.

Connect with us this summer from the comfort of your home as we explore feelings and their many forms. Centered on the films Spirited AwaySpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Inside Out, each program includes an engaging, creative activity that you won’t want to miss. Program is FREE to the public and will be available post-livestream on the Bullock Museum YouTube channel. Join a Museum Educator with the whole family for an online activity that ties in motifs from the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Channel your inner superpowers to design a superhero mask. Using simple materials that you can gather at home and a provided template, create your unique superhero mask that you can wear to fight evil powers and bring love and peace to the world. Watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse at your leisure using your favorite online streaming service and if you’re looking for more films to indulge in this summer, look no further than our film programmer’s extended and specially curated list. The films listed here will spark creativity for family activities and multi-generational conversations that touch on the many ways our feelings take shape.
