Discover the fun of science at the Science Mill in Johnson City! This nonprofit museum offers a fun, interactive learning environment for all ages. Housed in an historic 1880s mill in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, the Science Mill features more than 50 interactive, world-class exhibits, a 3D theater and an on-site café.

At the Science Mill, we’re all about discovery, creativity and hands-on learning. We’ve searched far and wide to deliver the most innovative and powerfully playful exhibits to our community. Dec. 26-28 Physics of Flight

Take flight without ever leaving the ground and join the Science Mill for three days dedicated to the physics of flight! Explore the principles of lift, drag, weight and thrust with hands-on activities for the whole family, including paper airplanes, egg drop, wind tunnel, and paper plate disc golf. Special activities are from 11am-2:30pm, but the Science Mill is open 10am-5pm all three days.

Dec. 27-28 Holiday Mini Camps at the Science Mill

The Science Mill is offering day camps on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28 for students in grades 3-5. Kids can come to both days or just one and will be programming mBots, taking care of MicroPets, and making their very own robots! Campers will get to develop a robot produced out of recyclable materials, and then put together a sales pitch for their creation.

Jan. 19, 2019 Snow Day at the Science Mill

The Science Mill will host a family-friendly Snow Day on Saturday, January 19th with real snow creating a winter wonderland full of science in the Texas Hill Country. In addition to special Snow Day activities, the museum will be open from 10am-4pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring mittens or gloves to keep their hands warm while playing in the snow.   Snow Day at the Science Mill is open to all and activities are free with admission, which includes access to all of the Science Mill's hands-on exhibits and a 3D movie. In the case of rain, this event will be postponed.
