About Us

The Austin Museum Partnership is a consortium of Austin-area museums organized in 1998 to promote collaborations for the mutual benefit of the public and the museums.

The membership includes art and science museums; historic sites and history museums; nature preserves, natural habitats, and botanical gardens; the University of Texas library, science, and art repositories; a Presidential library; a children's museum; a museum about Texas music; and the spectacular Texas State Capitol. And best of all, it's all right here in Austin, Texas!

Among other projects, the Austin Museum Partnership launched Austin Museum Day in 1998 that was attended by over 10,000 people. Now with attendance nearing 30,000, the tenth annual Austin Museum Day will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - click here to read about it.

Formed in January 1998, the Austin Museum Partnership, a consortium of area museums and historic sites, is organizing the celebration. The purpose of the organization is to promote and facilitate collaborations within the museum community for the mutual benefit of the public and the museums. AMP is a regional member of the Texas Association of Museums (TAM). The 2007 AMP Co-Chairs are Christina Hiett of the Austin Museum of Art and Jennifer Garner of the Blanton Museum of Art; and Treasurer is Stephen Brueggerhoff of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

The Austin Museum Partnership extends to the Austin community and its visitors a warm welcome to visit Austin's museums and explore the unique buildings, rich collections and programs and the host of diverse activities to be discovered!

Want to become a member of AMP? For a very low membership fee, Austin institutions as well as individuals can join our efforts to make the Austin museum community the best it can be! Send an email to AMP's treasurer, Stephen Brueggerhoff, for details.
